According to Edward and smith: Emotional maturity plays major role in the life of an individual. It prepares an individual for the better adjustment. It can be understand in terms of ability of self control which in turn is a result of thinking and learning. Emotional maturity is loosely a state in which once emotional reactivity is considered appropriate and normal for an adult in a given society. (Carruthers, M. 1996-2008) According to Fred McKinney,’ the characteristics of an emotional maturity are hetro- sexuality, appreciation of attitude and behavior of others, tendency to adopt the attitudes and habits of others and capacity to delay his own responses.” (Christian, D. G.2005) Emotionally disturbed behavior on the other hand can be described in the following way: he reacts like the child, he looks for sympathy, conceited, quarrelsome, infantile, self-centered and demanding person, has preservative emotions is emotionally excited and feel very much upset. Many criteria have been suggested to evaluate the concept of maturity. According to Bernard (1954) following are the criteria of mature emotional behaviour:
